Here is a good way to get fiber and protein in your smoothie without the horrible taste that other powders have. You can get it at a whole food market or through Amazon where you can save a little bit. I think it qualifies for free shipping.
Manitoba Harvest is 100% organic and mixes well. It is rich in protein (38%), branch chain amino acids, Omega 6 & Omega 3 Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs) and healthy dietary fiber 46%.
Ingredients:

Amaretto Espresso Smoothie
1 oz amaretto almond liqueur (or non-alcoholic version)
2 oz 2% milk
1 shot espresso
1 cup vanilla frozen yogurt
Optional topping
Blend with blender until smooth and pour in a large glass. Can pour over ice if liquid becomes a bit thin. Very delicious but not a low-calorie smoothie. In my photo I have added a “real” whipped topping. If you are counting calories, you will probably want to leave it off.
A recipe that is created by me but based off of Smoothie King’s Coffee Smoothie Amaretto.

Thought you may want to know what the basic smoothie begins with especially if you are a smoothie newbie.
The following recipe is pretty much what all smoothies begin with and all you have to do is add to it from there. Please note that anything I put optional beside is totally up to you to add into the recipe.
Basic Smoothie or Smoothie Beginnings
Ingredients
* 1/2 cup yogurt (any flavor, but plain is a nice start)
* 1/2 cup milk or juice (use whole, 2%, low-fat, or skim)
* 1/2 cup chopped fruit (fresh or frozen)
* 1 teaspoon wheat germ (optional)
* 1/2 cup ice cubes/crushed ice (optional but will really cool a smoothie down)

Very delicious and as with any low-fat smoothie recipe, you can change that calorie count by substituting any ingredient with something (as I think) tastier. Such as changing 2% milk to whole or even half and half. Yum, yum!
Smoothie Ingredients
½ cup of 2% milk
1 cup of low-fat yogurt
2 cups of fresh or frozen blueberries
Instruction
Put all ingredients in the blender and blend until smooth.

Fully Charged Banana Smoothie is great for early morning and is one of my original smoothie recipes. If you want something with a high protein boost and have a need for nutritious fruit, this one you should love. As with any of my original smoothie recipes, I honestly could not be accurate if I tried to tell you how many calories or fat grams it contains. I just know that I’ve made it and it’s good!
